We all start somewhere…

When I first began getting into fitness, it was for all of the wrong reasons.  I mostly worked out with the goals of losing weight, getting skinnier legs, looking better in a bikini, or because I had a special event coming up and wanted to look my best. I tried all of the fad diets, endless hours of cardio, and tried many different random online programs. I even resorted to ways that were very unhealthy. No matter what I did, I kept having the same issues. No matter how much weight I lost, I never felt truly comfortable or confident in my skin. And any and all progress and results that I achieved were not sustainable for me and caused my weight (and health - both physical and mental) to “yo-yo”.

I was sick and tired of it all.

It was time to make a change.

Most of all, I changed my outlook. Instead of trying to lose something, I decided it was time to try and focus on GAINING something. I wanted to eat to have energy to perform better in all areas of my life; I wanted to improve my sleep; I wanted to get stronger and gain muscle; I wanted to gain real confidence and most of all, I wanted to be healthy! This was no longer about weight loss. I wanted to become a strong badass woman who didn’t care about the number on the scale. I wanted to have a good relationship with food. I wanted to stop fearing carbs and fats and yo-yoing from diet to diet.

And then everything started to change.

From the moment I decided to start focusing on what I could gain rather that what I wanted to lose things started changing. I started doing things differently - I began strength training with the goal of getting strong and developing muscle. I even cut out cardio because I didn’t want to focus on calories at all. I hired fitness professionals, I began researching the concepts of training, reading books, and soaking in as much information as I could. Throughout this process I fell in love with the field fitness and nutrition. I knew that I needed to pursue this as a career. I finally decided to get my 1st certification as a personal trainer with CANFIT Pro in 2016.
